Dr Jameel Akhter is senior consultant practising at Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, Chennai. He was awarded with multiple fellowships namely from Indian association of gastrointestinal surgery, International College of Surgeon and Association of Surgeons of India.
He went on scholarship to Germany and received his training in laparoscopic surgery along with fellowship from Prestigious Institute in Germany.
Went for training in abdominal wall hernia repair and laparoscopic hernia repair at Cleveland Clinic, USA. Received his certification in the Robotic Surgery from Medtronics.
He has been working at Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, Chennai since his last assignment and now is working as a senior consultant in general and laparoscopic surgery.
He is well trained in both general and laparoscopic surgery and has performed wide range of surgeries including laparoscopic hernia, cholecystectomy, anterior resection, hemicolectomy, thyroidectomy, stapler hemarrhoidectomy and many more. His special interest is in the field of laparoscopic and striving to do more of robotic surgery. He is actively involved in teaching of the students and participates in the DNB curriculum regularly.
