    ZAP-X

    Pioneering Advanced Brain Tumor Treatment

ZAP-X Gyroscopic Radiosurgery is a cutting-edge technology designed to precisely target and treat brain tumors. Unlike traditional methods, ZAP-X utilizes a groundbreaking self-shielded, gyroscopic linear accelerator design. This innovation enables a comprehensive attack on tumors from all around the head, offering a new level of precision and effectiveness with minimal radiation exposure.

ZAP-X demonstrates high success, ensuring effective control and relief for various conditions with minimal long-term side effects.

    Vestibular Schwannomas

Achieves over 95% control rate in 10 years with minimal facial or trigeminal side effects.

    Meningiomas

Shows an exceptional 99.4% control rate in 5 years for small, defined tumors.

    Trigeminal Neuralgia

Provides complete pain relief in 70% of cases, maintaining relief rates of 40-55% at three years and 25% at ten years.

Benefits of ZAP-X Over Traditional Brain Surgery

    Enhanced Precision

ZAP-X precisely targets the affected area, eliminating the need for exposing the entire region, as required in traditional methods like craniotomy.

    Non-invasive Treatment

ZAP-X delivers highly focused radiation directly to the lesion, avoiding the need for opening the skull as in traditional surgical approaches.

    Shorten Treatment Duration

While traditional brain surgeries last 3-4 hours, ZAP-X completes treatment within a single session lasting no more than 30 minutes.

    Daycare Convenience

ZAP-X allows for a daycare procedure, enabling patients to return home post-treatment, unlike traditional surgeries requiring 4-7 days or more of hospitalization, and without the necessity of anesthesia.

    Precision Treatment for Varied Diagnoses

ZAP-X's precision offers targeted solutions for diverse brain-related conditions, ensuring effective and personalized care.

    ZAP-X effectively addresses:

Benign Intracranial Tumors: Including acoustic neuroma, pituitary adenomas, and meningiomas.

Benign Intracranial Tumors: Including acoustic neuroma, pituitary adenomas, and meningiomas.

Brain Metastasis: Treats tumors traveling to the brain from other body parts.

Arteriovenous Malformations (Cerebral AVM): Resolves blood flow disruptions caused by vessel entanglement.

Trigeminal Neuralgia: Provides relief from severe facial pain associated with nerve conditions.

Select Recurrent High-Grade Gliomas: Tailored treatment for specific cases of aggressive brain tumors.

    Built for the brain

    Cutting-Edge Treatment Precision

ZAP-X treatment covers all critical aspect like beam energy, source-axis distance, and non-coplanar beam coverage - to achieve advanced radiosurgery with an extremely precise dose gradient.

    Real-Time Precision with Imaging

By using a high-definition kilovolt (kV) imaging system, ZAP-X offers continuous intra-treatment image guidance and seamless readjustment throughout each session.

    Frameless and Accurate Delivery

ZAP-X doesn't require invasive stereotactic frames, yet it maintains sub-millimeter accuracy, allowing for easy treatment division into smaller sessions.

    Effortless Treatment Process

ZAP-X simplifies the treatment process with an easy and straightforward workflow, eliminating the complexities often found in multi-purpose radiotherapy systems. This ensures patient safety and a streamlined experience.

    Your ZAP-X Treatment Journey

    15 Dec

    Initial Consultation

Your journey begins with an initial consultation, where our experts review your medical records and imaging studies like MRI or CT scans. This visit involves a physical examination and a detailed discussion about the risks and benefits of treatment options. If ZAP-X is deemed suitable we move forward to the next phase

    22 Oct

    Simulation

After the consultation, you undergo a treatment simulation. This session helps our team precisely identify the treatment area. A customized pliable mesh mask is created to fit you perfectly. We conduct CT scans, sometimes using IV contrast, to map out the targeted zone. This process, much like a diagnostic CT scan, takes about 45 minutes to an hour, and there's no special preparation needed.

Your Patient Navigator will be by your side, offering vital information about your treatment and addressing any queries you might have

    10 Jul

    Treatment Planning

Our specialized team, comprising neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, and medical physicists, come together to design your treatment plan. They use the CT scan images from the simulation day to strategize the radiation therapy field. The aim is to deliver a precise, high dose of radiation to the tumor while safeguarding surrounding healthy tissues, crucial in minimizing potential side effects.

This personalized treatment planning may take 2-3 days to ensure accuracy and safety. Once finalized, your treatment day(s) will be scheduled. Post-treatment follow-up visits and MRI schedules will also be arranged as per your clinician's advice

    18 May

    Treatment Day

On the treatment day, you'll be comfortably positioned on the ZAP-X treatment table with your custom-made mask. Our radiation technologists, alongside your treating team, manage the precise delivery of the prescribed radiation dose. Continuous monitoring ensures accuracy, with images taken before and during treatment to verify the target positioning.

Treatment sessions typically last 30-45 minutes, focusing much of this time on ensuring accurate positioning. You'll have the opportunity to discuss any concerns with your treating clinician once the session concludes. If multiple sessions are required as per your treatment plan, these will be scheduled accordingly.

    10 Feb

    Post-Treatment Recovery

Following treatment, you'll return to the clinic for scheduled follow-up visits and imaging studies such as MRI. These visits help monitor the effectiveness of the treatment. Our clinicians and care providers are always available to address any questions or concerns you may have during this post treatment phase

At Apollo Hospitals, we prioritize your comfort and care throughout your ZAP-X treatment journey. Our dedicated team of experts will always ensure you have a comfortable and anxiety-free experience, always keeping your well-being at the forefront.
