The duration of cancer treatment varies based on the type and stage of cancer, the chosen treatment modality, and the patient's response. Treatment may span from a few weeks to several months, including follow-up care.

Side effects of cancer treatment can include fatigue, pain, nausea, hair loss, changes in appetite, and increased susceptibility to infections. The type and severity of side effects depend on the treatment received.

Cancer treatment itself is generally not painful. However, some treatments, such as surgery or certain therapies, may cause temporary discomfort or pain. Pain management strategies are integrated into the treatment plan to alleviate any discomfort.

After completing cancer treatment, most individuals can gradually resume their daily activities. The timeline for returning to normal activities varies based on the type of treatment and individual recovery progress. It is essential to follow post-treatment guidelines provided by the healthcare team.

Post-treatment follow-up is crucial for monitoring the patient's progress, detecting any potential recurrence, managing side effects, and providing ongoing support and guidance for a healthier life after cancer.

Support for a loved one includes providing emotional support, assisting with daily activities, accompanying them to appointments, offering encouragement, and being an active listener. Additionally, participating in support groups can be beneficial for both the patient and their loved ones.

A mammogram is a low-dose X-ray imaging test for your breasts, designed to find signs of breast cancer early, sometimes even before you notice any symptoms.

Getting a mammogram is usually painless, and you might feel only minimal discomfort when your breast is gently compressed between two plates to take clear and detailed pictures.

While most breast cancers detected in annual breast cancer screening mammograms occur in women over 50, those under 40 typically don’t start screening unless there are genetic issues or physical symptoms like breast changes.

On the day of the mammogram, avoid applying deodorant, antiperspirant, powders, lotions, creams, or perfumes under your arms or on or under your breasts. It is advised to wear a two-piece outfit to simplify the process, requiring only the removal of your top and bra. If you have had a previous mammogram, please bring the scanning report with you.
