Gynaecological Cancer: Symptoms & Treatment
The Gynaecologic oncology department offers an integrated approach to the diagnosis and surgical management of women’s cancers of the reproductive system. These include cervical cancer, ovarian cancer (includes fallopian tube and peritoneal) , pelvic masses, uterine cancer, vaginal cancer and vulvar cancer of the female reproductive system.
Gynaecological cancers have increased in India and are estimated to be around 200,000 per year and constitutes about 30% of the total cancers among women in India. Ovarian and cervical cancers are the most common gynaecological cancers affecting women worldwide and in India.
Cervical cancer is on a declining trend but remains the second most common cancer in women after breast cancer.
