A 30-year-old female patient underwent laparoscopic isthomocele repair with endosuturing and reconstruction of uterus.
ABOUT THE PATIENT
A 30-year-old lady was suffering from post-menstrual spotting with heavy bleeding during periods (abnormal uterine bleeding) and severe pain during menstruation forthe past 1 year (6 months after her second caesarean section).
CASE SCENARIO
Patient previously had two LSCS surgeriesand was suffering from dysmenorrhea with post menstrual spotting. She was also experiencing heavy menstrual bleeding for the past 1 year (6 months after her second LSCS).She visited many doctors in other hospitalsbut was not relieved. Later, she was referred to Apollomedics Super Specialty Hospital, Lucknow.
At Apollomedics Super Specialty Hospital, Lucknow, patient was admitted under the care of Dr. Neha Negi, Consultant Obstetrics & Gynaecology who carried out a detailed ultrasound scan that revealed a defect at the site of LSCS scar, with a bulging of the endometrium forming an Isthmocele measuring 2.9×3.5×2.8 cm with fresh blood and clots within it, with the overlying myometrium thickness just 1.5mm. Thus, patient was diagnosed with Isthmocele with dysmenorrhea and Abnormal uterine bleeding – a condition causing severe and frequent menstrual cramps and post menstrual spotting and heavy bleeding.
Dr Neha Negi successfully performed a complex laparoscopic Isthmocele surgery. The surgery was uneventful, patient remained in the post-operative unit for three days and was discharged in stable condition.
