Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CCU) is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of health care providers who work collaboratively to provide high quality care for this critically ill patient population. The team includes an attending cardiologist, a pulmonary critical care intensivist, and an attending physician specializing in heart failure. This multidisciplinary team approach adds expertise for patients with complex, co-morbid (multiple) medical conditions and improves the safety and care of all CCU patients.
The Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU)
The CTICU medical staff provides daily clinical management for patients requiring ventilatory support, sedation, nutrition and monitoring.
Clinical management is co-primary with the cardiovascular surgeons. Well defined clinical pathways that are customized to the requirement of individual patients’ requirement enables the medical staff to determine aspects of patient management such as ventilatory support, sedation, nutrition and monitoring. The CTICU is staffed exclusively with highly dedicated anesthesiologist-intensivist physicians and supported by trained nurses, respiratory therapists and nutritionists. This collaborative structure helps the team in providing comprehensive care and obtaining excellent outcomes.
