The COVID-19 Pandemic has undeniably taken a huge toll on the physical health of the population worldwide. Surprisingly, there is not enough conversation around what came as a collateral damage to this – a mental health crises.
It has been widely reported that that over one-sixth of the Indian population suffers from depression alone. Coupled with anxiety and other mood disorders, this number is much higher; and in the wake of this pandemic, drastic changes to our lifestyles, finances and freedom it poses a threat higher than ever.
Mental Health Patients
People diagnosed with mental health disorders should religiously consume their prescribed medication, if any. If you have been taught exercises and suggested to follow certain routine, practice it regularly.
Increased sadness, stress & anxiety
People with no history of depression or anxiety disorders are experiencing negative emotions in the wake of the pandemic too. Adults across the world are reporting vivid and stress-inducing dreams, insomnia and low-motivation for day-to-day activities. While these feelings are an added burden on top the fear of contracting the virus, simple steps like regular exercising, meditating, pursuing a hobby, eating healthy and sticking to a routine can help you feel better.
