Dr. Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited and a founding member, is a trailblazer in healthcare innovation and leadership. Her steadfast commitment has revolutionized the healthcare landscape, making quality medical services accessible to millions and positioning India as a global leader in medical excellence. Since its inception in 1983, Apollo Hospitals has grown into the world’s largest integrated healthcare provider, with over 10,000 beds across 73 hospitals, 6,000+ pharmacies, 2,500+ clinics and diagnostic centres, and 500+ telemedicine centres.

Dr. Preetha has championed deep clinician engagement and modern medical protocols to continuously enhance clinical outcomes. Her leadership has brought the latest treatments and practices to India, with Apollo’s clinical excellence recognized internationally, often surpassing global standards of clinical outcomes. She led the establishment of pioneering technologies, such as South Asia’s first Proton Cancer Therapy and the Zap-X, making advanced therapies more accessible and reducing the lag in adopting new treatments. Dr. Preetha’s strength lies in building this ecosystem and benchmarking clinical outcomes against global standards.
She led the creation of the Cell & Molecular Biology Research Centre (CMBRC) in Hyderabad, fostering a research-driven culture that has produced significant publications and upheld ethical standards in clinical research. In addition, the Apollo Research Academy helmed by her is an entity that consolidates research efforts across the Apollo ecosystem to drive global healthcare innovation. Under her guidance, the Academy advances investigator-driven studies, digital health, and precision medicine, supported by organization’s infrastructure and global partnerships.
As Managing Trustee of the Apollo Hospitals Educational Trust, she oversees educational initiatives that nurtures the development of future healthcare professionals through collaborations with academia, healthcare providers, and industry bodies.
Dr. Preetha played a pivotal role in earning the first JCI accreditation for a hospital in India and later in the creation of the NABH accreditation, elevating healthcare quality across Indian hospitals. She now serves on the Steering Committee for grading NABH Accredited Healthcare Organizations, reaffirming her commitment to quality and safety in healthcare. She also serves on the Advisory Board of the IFC & World Bank-founded Ethical Principles in Health Care (EPiHC). Also, in 2024, she joined the High-Level Advisory Council on Jobs, a World Bank initiative aimed at addressing the global jobs crisis through actionable policies and programs.
Dr. Preetha Reddy serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Larsen & Toubro Limited and is a member of the India Advisory Council of the Schulich School of Business.

In 2023, she received the prestigious ‘Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace’ from XLRI-Xavier School of Management. Earlier in 2021 for Apollo Hospitals’ outstanding service during the COVID-19 pandemic, she received the Economic Times Businesswoman of the Year award and the ‘Healthcare Personality of the Year Award’ from FICCI for her visionary contributions to healthcare and social science.
In 2018, she was awarded the ‘ABLF Award for Business Courage’ by the Asian Business Leaders Forum. She has also received the Lifetime Achievement Award for distinguished service in Social Science from the Loyola Forum for Historical Research and the NHRDN ‘People CEO Awards – Women Leadership’ from the National HRD Network.
Dr. Preetha holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science and a Master’s in Public Administration. She was conferred the degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) by The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University in recognition of her outstanding contributions to healthcare.
