Percutaneous PDA closure of 4-year-old child- A step towards Pediatric Cardiac Intervention at Apollomedics Hospitals Lucknow.
A 4-year-old patient with a history of recurrent chest infection, suboptimal growth, and palpitations presented at Apollomedics Hospital, Lucknow. On cardiac evaluation, it was found that the patient was having a 4 mm PDA with the left to right shunt. The Patient was advised for PDA closure.
PDA closure was successfully done with an ADO device 6/8 mm by the Intervention Cardiology team of Dr Kushal Haleja. The patient was doing well after the procedure and was discharged the next day.
Percutaneous closure of congenital heart diseases like ASD, VSD, and PDA is much safer & easier than surgical closure. This procedure leaves no scar mark on the chest and can be done without any general anaesthesia in 30 min only with better outcomes and lesser hospital stay.
