4 Year Old Pre B- Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with septic myocarditis and ejection fraction 20%, successfully managed and is leukaemia-free (MRD Negative) after 2 months of induction chemotherapy and is currently undergoing consolidation chemotherapy under Dr Priyanka Chauhan at Apollomedics Hospitals Lucknow.
A 4-year-old female child was admitted to the pediatric ICU with severe sepsis with shock. She was investigated and was diagnosed with Pre-B ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA WITH SEVERE SEPSIS WITH MYOCARDITIS WITH PANSINUSITIS. Initially, the patient was managed for sepsis and shock, after 15 days of conservative management in PICU (when clinical condition improved gradually, and vasopressors were stopped), she was started on BFM-2002 chemotherapy protocol without anthracyclines in view of myocarditis with Ejection fraction 20%.
After 20 days of chemotherapy when cardiac function normalised, Anthracyclines were introduced. Post 2 months of induction chemotherapy, the patient is now FREE OF LEUKEMIA CELLS (MRD Negative by Flow cytometry) and is undergoing consolidation therapy. Special thanks to the paediatric team & excellent ICU Care.
