Why Choose Open Heart Surgery When TAVI is Equally Effective?
Our team at Apollo are certified TAVI implanters with extensive training and experience both within and beyond Apollo. They have performed more than 150 TAVIs, the highest in AP Telangana.
Apollo houses the first and only Transcatheter Heart Valve clinic in the city and the only hospital with a hybrid cath lab.
Our cardiac team, boasting more than three decades of experience, conducts a wide array of advanced cardiac procedures, including robotic surgery techniques.
TAVI(Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) or TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) represents a groundbreaking approach to treating aortic valve stenosis without requiring open-heart surgery. The procedure involves the introduction of a new valve through a catheterin the groin, which is then implanted within the existing valve.
This minimally invasive method of advantages such as the absence of surgical scaring, expedited recovery, and outcomes comparable in safety to traditional surgery. Our proficient team will conduct a complete evaluation of your condition to ascertain if TAVI/ TAVR is the optimal treatment option for you.
During your consultation with the cardiac specialist and anesthesiologist, a comprehensive assessment will be conducted to determine the most suitable type of anesthesia for your procedure, with options including local or general anesthesia.
Before entering the catheter lab, a small intravenous tube (IV) will be strategically placed in a vein to facilitate necessary support during the upcoming procedure.
Within the catheter lab, medical professionals will create a small incision in the groin area. Subsequently, catheters will be carefully inserted into the artery and vein. A specialized catheter carrying the new valve will be guided to replace the old one. The duration ofthe TAVI procedure usually spans one to two hours.
