How Does a Holter Monitor Work?
The Holter monitor consists of several wires connected to small electrodes placed on your chest. These electrodes pick up your heart’s activity and record it on the monitor, which can be worn in various ways (attached to your chest, around your waist, or in a bag).
For accurate readings, keep the monitor close to your body. You will receive instructions on caring for the device and may be asked to maintain an activity journal to correlate symptoms with your heart’s activity.
What Happens After Using a Holter Monitor?
Once the monitoring period is complete, the device is removed, and technicians analyse the results alongside your journal. A report is sent to your cardiologist, who will discuss any further testing or interventions if needed.
