Permcath insertion is a type of dialysis access procedure. Permcath, or permanent catheter, has two tubes. It is usually inserted in the blood vessel in the neck and extends to the right side of the heart. One takes blood to the dialysis machine, while the other carries the blood from the machine to the body. Permcath is generally used for long-term purposes. A cuff will help the catheter remain in place and prevent infection.
