Dr. Paripati Sharat Kumar is the first orthopaedic surgeon from India to become a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports & Exercise Medicine, Ireland [FFSEM]. He is also – the first orthopaedic surgeon in Apollo Hospitals across India to perform arthroscopy of the knee, shoulder, ankle, elbow and hip joints, the first orthopaedic surgeon from South India to perform daycare minimally invasive total hip replacement, the first orthopaedic surgeon in India to perform direct anterior minimally invasive bilateral total hip replacement for completely fused hip joints.

He has served as liaison doctor for the Mumbai Indians IPL team and took care of Sachin Tendulkar and Andrews Symonds in Apollo Hospital, Secunderabad. He has also served as a consultant for Rugby Football League, UK, Sports doctor during Manchester Commonwealth Games and as a team physician for British Judo Masters Championships. He has featured in Forbes India – Leaders in Healthcare 2021 and in ‘India’s Top Orthopedicians, Coffee Table Book, 2018. He has also received a Certificate of Appreciation from Prince Edward HRH-The Earl of Wessex, President, Commonwealth Games Federation for his contribution during the Manchester Commonwealth Games.

He is acclaimed for his expertise in complex and complicated joint replacement and sports surgery. He is working as a senior orthopedic and sports & exercise medicine consultant in Apollo Health City since his return from England in 2006. He has 33 years orthopedic experience including 11 years in United Kingdom. Worked in centres of excellence including Glasgow University Hospitals, Aberdeen University Hospitals and Worthing Hospitals. He has international publications and presentations and served as faculty in numerous orthopaedic meetings. He also served as international scientific committee member in sports medicine symposium in Cannes, France.
