Dr Sangita Reddy lauds police constable Dawa Naveena for her exemplary deed of saving a precious life with CPR!
Hyderabad, September 27th, 2022: The police constable Dawa Naveena, who saved a precious life with her exemplary deed, was felicitated at Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills, today. Dr Sangita Reddy, Jt. Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group; while felicitating Naveena, lauded her presence of mind and persistence in reviving an unconscious and unresponsive woman, through CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation), till she became conscious.
The 2020 batch constable Dawa Naveena revived a woman housekeeping staff Ranjitha, after she fainted and was badly injured in the stampede that occurred last week at Gymkhana Grounds. The charging crowd, on opening of the gates of Gymkhana ground for sale of tickets for India, Australia match, ran over and virtually crushed Ranjita. Naveena, who was on duty there, with her presence of mind intervened to save Ranjita. She found her unconscious and unresponsive, without wasting a second, Naveena administered CPR, in which she was trained by the Police Department. Despite continuous effort Ranjita didn’t revive, but Naveena persisted till she became conscious and later ensured her admission into a hospital for further treatment.
Commending Police Constable Dawa Naveena, Dr Sangita Reddy said, Dawa Naveena needs to be eulogised for her act of saving a precious life of a woman in utmost distress. Her persistence to revive the person despite not having success is to be extolled. Since Apollo Hospitals for the first time initiated CPR and lifesaving training in Hyderabad in 1996 as part of the emergency care, several underwent the training, but only a few like Naveena use their learning to save lives. She is a true epitome of inspiration and more following her footsteps could save several precious lives.
In its effort to spread awareness on this life saving skill, Apollo hospitals conducts BLS training sessions regularly at major organizations and corporates. It is heartening to see the results bear fruit and a life being saved.
