1565Some researchers have mentioned that the vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) may help in protection against SARS-CoV-2. There is some similarity of the proteins in measles, mumps and rubella viruses and the COVID -19 causing SARS-CoV-2 virus. We are not sure at this point if the structural similarity is close enough to create a cross-reactive immune response, but this is being studied . Large trials in human populations will be needed to prove conclusively that vaccination with BCG, MMR or others can reduce the severity of COVID-19.
