3 YEAR EMERGENCY MEDICINE RESIDENCY AT APOLLO HOSPITALS,CHENNAI

Date & time of intake: 20th January 2025- 9am, Emergency Department, Apollo Hospitals, Greams road, Chennai- 6

Course start Date: 27th of January 2025

Applications are invited to work for 3 years as a resident with learning focused mainly in Emergency Medicine but also with
secondments in Paediatric EM, Anesthesia and Critical care while academic support and training will be provided for the
residents to pass all components of MRCEM.

The various Emergency departments of Apollo hospitals, Chennai see a proper case mix of cardiac, poly trauma, sepsis and
renal emergencies amongst other emergencies. All the Emergency departments in the Chennai division of Apollo Hospitals
are led by EM consultants who possess the coveted FRCEM qualification. There are around 40 residents & registrars and 8
consultants.

About MRCEM:

MRCEM Exams comprises MRCEM primary (basic sciences single best answer questions) which candidates are expected to
appear within 6 months of entering training, MRCEM SBA (Clinical- SBAs) and MRCEM OSCEs at the end of their 3-year
training.

Schedule of the day of Intake (Fee for entrance payable on the day- Rs 500):

Briefing about the Course/training/ employment/secondments/exams- 9.15 am

Entrance: 10.00 Am / Entrance results: 1 pm

Interview and final results- 2 pm – 5 pm

Multiple choice questions in Basic medical sciences and short answer questions pertaining to applied Emergency Medicine
lasting for approximately an hour. If you are successful in the entrance, we would invite you to attend an interview. Based
on your cumulative performance in the entrance test and the interview we would decide the final list of successful
candidates. You would know if you have been selected by the end of the day and expected date of joining would be the
29th of January.

Employment and Placements:

Candidates will be in the Chennai Division of Apollo hospitals. Employment may take up
to 3 months from the time of joining and that period will help us assess your suitability for employment. Pay scales would
be confirmed by HR. A new resident’s monthly pay would be approximately Rs 50,000.

Course Fee: Initial Fees: Approximately Rupees: 1,10,000; Tuition Fees: 7,700 per month (to be confirmed on the day of
Entrance)

Exam fees – approximate INR equivalent Primary and SBA exam: £ 460 each, OSCE exam: £968 (approximately & may be
revised) – to be paid directly to RCEM when attempting the exam.
