He had previously served as the Uro-oncology and Robotic Surgery Fellowship Co-director in HCG cancer Hospital, Bangalore and resident teaching and mentoring for robotic surgery in University of Miami Hospital and ORSI academy, Aalst, Belgium.

  • Along with robotic surgery for localized prostate cancer he is specially interested in surgically treating prostate cancer patients which have spread to the surrounding local structures (locally advanced prostate cancer) or had minimal spread to other organs (oligometastatic prostate cancer) as part of the multimodal approach to these complex cases. Trained by the best robotic Kidney cancer surgeons in the world, he is confident in performing robotic partial nephrectomies when indicted and thus maximizing the chances of saving the kidney and hence it’s function. Trained from the Institute which has recently published the landmark paper on Robotic versus open radical cystectomy (bladder removal surgery) for bladder cancer, he has developed a keen interest in developing Eastern India’s first comprehensive Robotic bladder cancer program. He is proficient in MRI-US guided prostate biopsy and he also treats testis, ureter, urethral and penile cancer patients. As part of the Global prostate cancer foundation he is also an active participant in spreading awareness for prevention, early detection and treatment of prostate cancer.
Work Experience

  • Dr.Indraneel Banerjee is the first US fellowship trained Uro-oncologist and Robotic surgeon in Eastern India and have been associated with more than 700 Robotic Urological procedures over last five years. He is trained in the management of all types of Urologicalcancers and is proficient in MRI-US guided fusion biopsy of prostate. He had previously served as the Uro-oncology and Robotic Surgery Fellowship Co-director in HCG cancer Hospital, Bangalore and was actively involved in resident teaching and mentoring for robotic surgery in University of Miami Hospital,Miami,USA and ORSI academy,Aalst, Belgium.
  • He completed his Medical school and residency in general surgery from the prestigious Calcutta Medical College and Urology residency from Swai Man Singh Medical College Jaipur, easily one of the best Urology training centres in India. He is also a Member of The Royal College of Surgeons of England and did his clinical fellowships in Minimally invasive and Robotic Urology from Fortis Escorts Kidney and urology Institute, New Delhi. He won the prestigious American Urological Association(AUA) and Urological society of India traveling fellowship award to attend the annual AUA conference in San Diego and worked as a traveling fellow in Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, USA. He was selected for a scientific fellowship in Robotic Urology in Belgium by European association of Urology and completed his clinical fellowship in Uro oncology and Robotic surgery from University of Miami Hospital, Florida, USA. He has also worked as a Consultant Uro oncologist and Robotic surgeon in HCG Cancer hospital, Bangalore and was the co-director of the Uro oncology and Robotic surgery fellowship program in the same hospital.
  • He has authored more than 39 peer reviewed publications and is an editor and reviewer of reputed International journals. He has won multiple National and International Robotic Urology scholarships as well as multiple awards for best video presentations in Uro-oncology and Robotic surgery. He is also part of the upcoming Urological Society of India Non muscle invasive bladder cancer and localized prostate cancer guideline panel.As part of the charitable Global Prostate Cancer foundation project he is actively involved in educating people about the importance of early detection and treatment of prostate cancer.He is interested in developing a focussed Uro-oncology and Robotic surgery program in Eastern India
