Dr. S Meenakshi Sundaram is a renowned Consultant Neurologist with more than two decades of robust clinical experience. Dr. S. Meenakshi Sundaram earned his medical degree (MBBS) from Madurai Medical College in 1993 and subsequently completed his M.D in Internal Medicine from SMS Medical College, Jaipur in 1997. He received Doctorate of Medicine (D.M) in Neurology from the prestigious apex tertiary care institute NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences), Bengaluru in 2000. He bagged the gold medal and the best outgoing student award from NIMHANS, Bengaluru in 2000.
He has extensive clinical experience in diagnosing and treating a whole gamut of neurological illness including, but not limited to migraine, seizures, gait disorders, neuromuscular weakness, memory problems, Parkinson’s disease, motor neuron disease, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, peripheral nervous system disease, movement disorders, neuroinflammatory disorders and auto-immune neurological diseases. His special interest and focus are on stroke prevention, stroke treatment and rehabilitation.
His academic and research pursuits are ongoing concurrently along with his clinical practice. He has more than 25 publications to his credit including 6 original research articles, which have been published in peer-reviewed journals of high impact value. He has authored several review articles in peer reviewed journals and has contributed to in textbooks including in South Asian Edition of the book Dejong's “The Neurologic Examination”. He is also the co-editor of the Southeast Asian edition of Jose Biller’s ‘Practical Neurology’. He has presented his research work in various national and international conferences. He has been the Principal Investigator (PI) for various international trials involving diseases including stroke, epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease. He is a regular invited speaker at the annual conference of Association of Physicians of India. He is a member of various organizations including IAN (Indian Academy of Neurology), NSI (Neurological Society of India), IES (Indian Epilepsy Society), API (Association of Physicians of India), TAN (Tamil Nadu Association of Neurology) and IMA (Indian Medical Association).
In his spare time, he enjoys and is versatile in Tamil literature and has authored a classical Tamil poetry book and several of his poems have been published in Tamil newspapers.
Perhaps his greatest strength lies in the caring and compassionate attitude with singular focus on delivering high quality treatment to every patient, every time, under his care.
