    • Nephrology is a medical discipline that covers the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases. Commonly treated disorders include kidney stones , acute and chronic kidney failure etc. Nephrology also involves comprehensive care for kidney diseases associated with other illnesses and conditions, such as hypertension and diabetes. We at our centre provide a wide range of nephrology services viz. hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, live and cadaver kidney transplantation, kidney biopsies and intensive care nephrology services including CRRTs . Besides these we specialize in an unique emerging field in nephrology called Interventional Nephrology which deals with the creation and management of dialysis vascular access. With the ever increasing number of renal failure patients and with the limited availability of organs available for transplantation, more and more people need to be on long term hemodialysis. With advancements in hemodialysis machines and techniques patients nowadays live on dialysis therapy for decades. Consequently dialysis access related problem like immature fistula, failing/failed dialysis fistula, clotted fistula, central venous stenosis have become more common with resultant morbidity to the patients on dialysis. The wellbeing of a patient on dialysis is primarily decided by the quality of the dialysis vascular access (dialysis fistula ) they have. We at our institute specialize in creating a well functioning dialysis vascular access as well as managing various dialysis fistula related problems so that patients get a good quality dialysis which decides their quality of life on dialysis.
