Apollo Telemedicine Networking Foundation, a not for profit foundation of the Apollo Hospitals Group has been requested by the Business of Humanity® unit of University of Pittsburgh to provide a Health & Wellness Centre in collaboration with the Narottam Lalbhai Rural Development Foundation. Residents in and around Tuver (a tribal village, around 162 kms from Ahmedabad) will now have access to quality healthcare from consultants of Apollo Hospitals deploying the Telemedicine Network. In addition, an onsite pharmacy and laboratory services will be available. A co-located CSC (Common Service Centre) will provide other useful services to the public. One of the unique feature of this project is deployment of solar power for the centre and for the community. Another unique feature would be an outreach programme wherein, customised educated modules will be presented to the residents to promote health literacy. This Social Health Education (SHE) will result in knowledge empowerment leading to patient empowerment.
The centre will be formally inaugurated on Saturday, 02nd February 2019 at Tuver. This will be followed by an academic programme on Sunday, 3rd February 2019 in conjunction with Ahmedabad University. Apollo Hospitals Ahmedabad, is pleased to be associated with this laudable social endeavor.
