    On the occasion of World Health Day, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, helps people pedal their way to good health

    In an effort to encourage an active lifestyle and promote healthy living among the general public, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, conducted a day long studio cycling session on World Health Day (April 7th 2016).

    Recent reports suggest that people with diabetes in the country have doubled in the past few years, and the number of diabetes patients in the country is expected to increase to 101.2 million in the next 15 years. Studies have also shown that a sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy dietary habits contribute to cardiovascular disease.

    The event aims to encourage an active lifestyle, promote healthy living among the public, and raise awareness on the need for early and proactive screening for non-communicable diseases. Besides the fitness session participants availed a complimentary health screening height and weight measurement, blood pressure and blood glucose test.

    With over 150 participants, a total distance of 520 kms was covered during the event. Mr. Subbiah, COO, Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road said “On World Health Day , our unyielding commitment remains to a strong and healthy India. It is manifest in this community outreach Pedalathon event where we are showing our communities there are many fun ways to getting fit.”
