Paediatric Neurology
Our Paediatric Neurology Service offers tertiary care to patients referred from all over the country and abroad.
We treat patients for a wide range of conditions including epilepsy, cerebral palsy, brain injuries, brain tumours, pituitary tumours, neuromuscular diseases, migraine, spinal disorders and Tourette’s syndrome.
Services
Our role is to diagnose and treat categories of disease involving the central and peripheral nervous system; or equivalently, the autonomic nervous systems and the somatic nervous systems, including their coverings, blood vessels and all effector tissue, such as muscle.
We work closely with Neurosurgeons to ensure that patients needing surgery, get the most timely and effective treatment.
A number of specialist clinics are provided by the Neurology service for conditions including:
- Epilepsy
- Migraine
- Cerebral palsy
- Epilepsy surgery
- Neuromuscular issues
- Spinal problems
- Intrathecal baclofen
- Movement disorders
- Rare neurodegenerative disorders
- Neurogenetic disorders
Investigations
We have a fully equipped Neurophysiology lab for all the tests needed.
Most investigations are undertaken at Apollo Children’s Hospitals and Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road where facilities for laboratory investigations and radiology (including MRI) are available. Inpatient video-EEG telemetry and other neurophysiological testing facilities are also available in a child-friendly environment.
