Pediatric Cardiology
The Department of Paediatric Cardiology at Apollo Children’s Hospitals is a renowned Centre of Excellence for Paediatric Cardiac care, with internationally trained doctors and a warm and friendly ambience. Apollo Children’s Hospitals is the first hospital in Chennai to have Transoesphagal 3D Echo facilities. This is a very important investigative modality as intrauterine detection of cardiac defects can be done as early as 18-20 weeks of conception. This gives the parents and physicians adequate time to plan and prepare the treatment of the child once he or she is born.
4D Echocardiology is a very exciting new investigative modality. Apollo Children’s Hospitals has the highly advanced Transoesophageal probe that helps intracardiac anatomy to be studied in real-time and digitally reconstructed. This enables the cardiac surgeon to plan the surgery decisively.
This strength in investigative modalities is made more robust by the support of a 640 Slice CT scan and Cardiac MRI. Optimal utilization of these modalities enables early and right diagnosis in children, hence enabling early and best possible medical intervention.
