Diagnostics
Gallium 68 PET-CT scan is done for the imaging of well differentiated Neuroendocrine Tumours (NET) and Prostate cancers. Neuroendocrine Tumours are characterised by their ability to over express Somatostatin Receptors (SSTR) is most cells. PET Imaging using Gallium 68 Labelled SST analogs (Ga-68 DOTATATE) combined with contrast enhanced multi detector CT images offer higher resolution with promising results in the detection of SST receptor – expressing well differentiated NET tumours with low Ki-67 index. Gallium 68 labelled PSMA (Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen) offers good quality images in patients with Prostate cancer. This scan images the tumor cells that expresses PSMA antigen and is highly sensitive compared to the conventional imaging for lesser detection.
