Brachytherapy (internal radiotherapy) is a type of radiotherapy used to treat cancer. In this method, the radioactive source of radiation is placed either very close to the tumor or within the tumor itself to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors.
Intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy is usually done in an operation theatre and under anaesthesia. Intracavitary & surface mould brachytherapy can be done as an outpatient.
