5th Apollo International Colorectal Surgery Symposium to Revolutionize Healthcare in Colorectal Cancer

Chennai, August 29, 2024: – Apollo Hospitals to conduct its 5th edition of Apollo International Colorectal Surgery Symposium (AICRS 2024). One of the main highlights of the symposium will be the release of the latest patient clinical outcomes from the coveted Apollo Rectal Cancer (ARC) Programme.

The Apollo Proton Cancer Centre’s ARC Programme has achieved outstanding clinical outcomes in rectal cancer surgery, surpassing global standards in key areas. Notably, the programme has reported a lower resection margin positivity rate of 4.6% compared to the global standard of 5.2%, anastomotic leak rates of 0.9% versus 2.6%, wound infection rates of 1.4% versus 5.2%, and readmission rates of 1.9% versus 21.4%. Additionally, the programme has seen a significant reduction in robotic to open conversion rates, at 1% compared to 7.0%. These exceptional outcomes have also led to improved survival rates, with significant advancements in treatment protocols contributing to higher long-term survival rates for rectal cancer patients.
