Testicular Cancer

Diagnosis

  • Ultrasound of the scrotum – Ultrasound images are created using sound waves and are able to gather real-time images of both anatomies as well as functions. It is a non-invasive scanning process that does not utilise any ionising radiation that could be harmful to patients. It is highly accurate for a testicular tumour. Very rarely is a biopsy required for diagnosis.
  • PET-CT Scan- A scan of the whole body is a tool used to provide more information in diagnosing primary testicular cancer and to look for any metastases to other organs, which helps in further management.
