Overview

Soft tissue sarcomas are a group of cancers that develop in the soft tissues surrounding, connecting or supporting the body’s structures and organs.

Risk Factors

  • Some inherited genetic conditions such as:
    • Familial adenomatous polyposis
    • Neurofibromatosis
    • Li-Fraumeni syndrome
    • Inherited retinoblastoma

    • Werner syndrome

Signs and Symptoms

Signs and symptoms may vary from person to person. Often, sarcoma does not present with symptoms in the early stages. Symptoms depend on the location of the tumor

Diagnosis

    Most commonly used imaging tool for diagnosis and treatment planning in soft tissue sarcomas is a contrast MRI of affected area.

Treatment

Treatment options for soft tissue sarcoma will depend on the size, type and location of the tumor.
