    It is a common cancer in men, which, if diagnosed early, has excellent chances of complete cure. The key to success is early diagnosis.

    In India, the incidence of Prostate cancer has been rising over the past few year, sand it continues to be one of the most common cancers amongst men.

  • Types of Prostate Cancer.

    Prostate cancers are classified based on their origin.

    • Adenocarcinomas:
      Approximately 95% to 99% of cases of prostate cancer are Adenocarcinomas. This type is further classified into Acinar and Ductal, based on the type of cells that the cancers originate in.

    • Sarcomas: Sarcomas are a rare form of primary prostate cancer and develop in soft tissues, which include muscles and nerves. Sarcomas can grow in the lymphatic vessels, blood vessels, and smooth muscles of the prostate and affect men between the ages of 35 and 60 years.

    • Neuroendocrine Tumours (NETs):


      Neuroendocrine tumours are also called carcinoids. These tumours are present in the neuroendocrine system, which comprises of the nerve and gland cells responsible for making and releasing hormones into the bloodstream.


    • Small cell carcinoma:

      Prostate small cell carcinoma is another type of neuroendocrine cancer. Small cell carcinoma is very aggressive but does not induce a change in PSA levels.

    • Squamous cell carcinoma:

      Squamous cell carcinoma is a rare and fast-growing type of prostate cancer.
