Paediatrics Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

Diagnosis

  • Pathology – The sample of marrow and blood collected get evaluated further.

  • Blood tests – Complete blood count (CBC), a peripheral blood smear, and Renal and Liver function tests.

  • Chromosomal tests – Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH)/ Polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

  • Cytogenetics and molecular tests – These are done to look for genetic/ chromosomal changes (BCR-ABL translocation) in the leukaemia cells.
