The nasopharynx is the air passageway in the upper part of the pharynx (throat) behind the nose and just above the soft palate. The nostrils lead through the nasal cavity into the nasopharynx.
Benign Tumors
Some types of benign tumours of the nasopharynx are – Angiofibromas, Hemangiomas and tumours in the lining of the nasopharynx that include the minor salivary glands.
Malignant Tumors
Some of the malignant tumours of the nasopharynx are – Squamous cell carcinoma (the most common), Adenoid cystic and Mucoepidermoid carcinomas, malignant mixed tumours, Adenocarcinomas, lymphomas, Fibrosarcomas, Osteosarcomas, Chondrosarcomas, and Melanomas.
