Overview

The gallbladder is an organ in the abdomen that stores and concentrates the bile, which helps to digest the fat in the diet. Gallbladder cancer arises as abnormal growth of cells in the lining of the gallbladder.

Risk Factors

Most risk factors of gallbladder cancer are related to chronic inflammation in gallbladder.

  • Gallstones- Gallstones are the most common risk factor for gallbladder cancer.

Signs and Symptoms

Symptoms of gallbladder cancer usually appear in an advanced stage.

  • Abdominal pain in the upper quadrant of the abdomen
  • Jaundice, Itchy skin and Dark urine
  • Nausea and vomiting
