Brain Tumors

FAQ

Tumors that arise elsewhere in the body (such as the breast or lungs) and migrate to the brain, usually through the bloodstream, are called Metastatic Brain Tumors.

It is the time between the primary modality of treatment (surgery/radiation therapy/chemotherapy) to the time of recurrence of disease or disease progression.

Brain metastases are indicative of a poor prognosis (treatment outcome). Survival depends on a variety of parameters like

  • The primary site of origin of the tumor

  • Solitary or multiple lesions in the CNS

  • Multiple metastases to other parts of the body

The life expectancy of a person with a Brain Tumor depends on several factors like:

  • Location

  • Staging
  • Grading

  • Whether the tumor is benign or malignant

  • Whether it is a Primary or Secondary

  • If the disease was diagnosed as soon as the symptoms appeared

  • Condition of the patient at the time of diagnosis of Brain tumor
