Biography

Dr Uma Ravishankar underwent her undergraduate training (MBBS) at Madras Medical College, Chennai, and graduated in 1984. She trained in nuclear medicine at Radiation Medicine Centre, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, from 1990 -1991, and at Batra Hospital, New Delhi, from 1991-1993. She worked at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences for a year before being appointed as a Consultant in Nuclear Medicine at the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, in 1996. She presently heads the department of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging which has a SPECT gamma camera, DEXA scanner, PET CT and PET MRI. She has a longstanding interest in SPECT imaging, thyroid imaging, oncologic imaging with PET CT, and therapy procedures for thyroid cancer, prostate cancer, and neuroendocrine tumours.
