Biography

Dr Jayanti Thumsi is a ‘Lead Surgeon-Breast Oncology’ at Apollo Hospital, Bannerghatta road, Bangalore, India and is spearheading a Comprehensive Breast Cancer Department.
She has been practising Breast Oncology in Bangalore for 21 years and has vast experience in performing more than 3500 breast surgeries and 2500 other surgeries so far.
With a keen interest in bringing about awareness among women in our society about Breast cancer, she has been very active in conducting awareness programs (more than 258) and has educated 4,58,000 women so far. A book that she has authored ‘Lump to Laughter’ highlights the emotional journey of women going through breast cancer treatment with medically validated information and is already in its third edition.

She has been honoured with the following awards.

  • Women Achiever of Karnataka 2019 by VRL group, Vijayvani and Digvijay TV.
  • Kengal Hanumanthaiah State Award 2019 for her work in the field of Breast Oncology and her contribution to society.
  • Chanakya National Award – Jury Special Award for Medical Inspiration by the Public Relation Council of India & World Communicators Council on 6th March 2020
