Dr. Saurabh Misra is a laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon who has been working as a Senior Consultant at Apollo Hospital in Bangalore since 2006. He has performed over 7000 laparoscopic and bariatric operations. After a complication of his MS operation in Rajasthan in 1997, he began his career as a Registrar at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, where he received advanced laparoscopic surgery training.Later, he was accepted as a Fellow in Bariatric Surgery at the famed Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA, where he trained under Drs. Geff Thompson and Kendrik (2004-2005). He began conducting bariatric surgery independently in 2005 and was the first surgeon to do such procedures at Apollo Hospital in Goa.
In 2010, he was asked to attend the “World Leaders Hernia Round Table Conference” in Shanghai, China (only 5 surgeons were invited). In 2012, he designed and developed SMILS, his own minimal access surgical procedure, which was accepted for publication in the Journal of Minimal Access surgical. He was invited to give a guest lecture on Matabolic and Bariatric surgery at the API conference in Hubali, Karnataka, in 2014. He has published around 25 clinical research papers to date.
