Mahadevan received an award from the Karnataka State Chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India in 2005 at KSC-ASICON. The event took place in Mangalore for the paper on the surgical management of portal hypertension.
He participated as a speaker in the Symposium on Stomach Cancer (Ca Stomach) during KSC-ASICON – 2006 held at Bellary.
He served as the Honorary Secretary for the Bangalore City chapter of KSC-ASI during the year 2006–07.
Mahadevan conducted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session on Portal Hypertension at Radhakrishna Hospital Girinagar on November 13th, 2005.
He organised eight single-theme National Surgical Gastroenterology updates at Victoria Hospital, Bangalore. In two of these updates, he demonstrated live surgeries for approximately 300 delegates.
Mahadevan conducted training in hernia surgery as part of the PACE program organised by Covidien at Apollo Hospitals, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore.
He initiated the first training program in Laparoscopic e-TERPS surgery at Apollo Hospitals Bangalore on December 21st and 22nd, 2019. This training is ongoing and occurs once every three months. Many surgeons who underwent this training have successfully adopted the surgery in their practice.
He played a pivotal role in establishing the M.Ch course in Surgical Gastroenterology at Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute.
Mahadevan introduced the Fellowship course (FNB) in Minimal Invasive Surgery from the National Board of Examinations at Apollo Hospitals Bangalore starting in 2017.
He served as an Examiner for the FNB (Fellow of the National Board) in the Minimal Invasive Surgery exam held at the Galaxy Care Laparoscopy Institute, Pune, Maharashtra from September 26th to 28th, 2019.
He acted as an Assessor from the National Board of Examinations, India on October 31st, 2019, at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi.
