Dr. P Satishchandra

Overview

Dr P Satishchandra is one of the senior-most Neurologists in the country with more than 42 Years of experience in the field. He specialises in Epilepsy, demyelinating disorders including Multiple Sclerosis, NMOSD, and MOG, and various Neuro-Infections, including Neuro AIDS. He has 320 published papers to his credit, including 51 Chapters in the books and eight monograms. He has received several prestigious awards, including ‘The distinguished Clinician Award’ from Apollo Group of Hospitals in 2020, ‘The Ambassador for Epilepsy Award ‘from the International League against Epilepsy, the Asia-Oceania Outstanding Achievement Award, ICMR Research in Epilepsy award, the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, etc., added to his accolades. In addition, he has also been selected as Emeritus Professor of Neurology by the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) for five years from 2023.

Work Experience

• He was the Former Director and Vice Chancellor of NIMHANS from June 2010 till Jan 2016.
• He was a Senior Professor of Neurology for more than 17 years at NIMHANS, Bangalore, before joining Apollo hospital in November 2017.
• He is also currently the Hon. Professor at the University of Liverpool, UK.
• He has trained more than 100 Neurology DM students and initiated the DNB programme in Neurology at Apollo Hospitals in 2019.
