Dr. Jayanti Thumsi

Overview

Dr Jayanti Thumsi is currently working as a ‘Lead Surgeon-Breast Oncology’ at Apollo Hospitals, Bangalore, and has more than 21 years of experience in Breast Oncology. She is leading a comprehensive breast cancer department and has extensive expertise, having completed more than 3500 breast operations and 2500 additional surgeries to date. Many conferences, both nationally and internationally, featured her as a speaker. She’s participated in a number of radio and television programs. She has written several pieces for publications, including journals and newspapers.

She has also written a book called “Lump to Laughter,” which is already in its third edition and explores the emotional journey of women through breast cancer treatment with material that has been medically proven. She founded the STHREE organisation, which now has more than a thousand members and is highly active and thriving. She has been associated as a member of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) and the Indian Cancer Society & Association of Breast Surgeons of India.

Education

Dr Jayanti Thumsi graduated with her MBBS from Sir JJ Hospital and Grant Medical College in Mumbai in 1990. She completed MS (General Surgery) – Breast Oncology from Grant Medical College and Sir JJ Hospital, Mumbai, in 1993. Following that, she has undergone training in Breast Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.

• Kengal Hanumanthaiah State Award 2019 for her work in the field of Breast Oncology and her contribution to society.
