He has vast experience in the field of Nephrology &Transplantation, and was Professor Head of Nephrology at St John’s Medical College for over a decade before his present tenure at Apollo hospitals, where he joined in the year 2014.

He has vast teaching experience and has been postgraduate teacher /guide in Nephrology as well as was post graduate Examiner in various medical institutions across the country including PGI Chandigarh, SGPGI Lucknow, Nizams institute Hyderabad and National Board of examinations.
He has authored 15 chapters in Textbooks of Nephrology, published 182 research papers, delivered 152 guest lectures and 6 orations. In addition, he has been principal investigator in 12 clinical trials.
For his contribution in the field of Nephrology while serving in the Indian Air force, he has received the presidential Award from President of India in the year 2000 (VSM)
He graduated from Mysore university in 1976 and acquired his postgraduate degree , MD medicine from Armed Forces Medical college Pune in 1982. He did super specialisation at prestigious CMC Vellore where he obtained his DM and DNB qualifications.
He was also conferred fellowship of Royal college of physicians London, (FRCP) and Fellowship of Indian society of nephrology ( FISN)
He has been part of multiple National decision making bodies in the Field of Nephrology & Transplantation, as well as, has contributed as a member and chairman of Committees ,drafting guidelines for treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease, in India.
He has held various executive positions in professional bodies of Nephrology, and has been the past president of both the Indian Society of Peritoneal Dialysis and the Indian Society of Nephrology-Southern Chapter.
He has also received distinguished ‘Dhronacharya” award for his contributions in training Nephrologists across India
